Tom Venafro, director of marketing, National Chimney and Natural Light Energy Systems, Phoenix, was named Star Member of American Marketing Association, Phoenix Chapter, for July 2018.
Venafro was a collegiate AMA member, became active as an AMA Phoenix member in 2018 and was recently named one of three finalists for Marketer of the Year for Spectrum Awards, presented by AMA Phoenix at Sun Studios of Arizona, Tempe, May 10, 2018.
For nearly 10 years, Venafro has worked in sales and marketing for various organizations and industries such as building materials, consumer packaged goods, food and beverage, safety, aviation, aerospace, sports, radio, and non-profit organizations. He has earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, and has worked in marketing complex spine devices at K2M, Inc., radio marketing and promotions at Townsquare Media, sports marketing for the Butler BlueSox, and food and beverage at PepsiCo.
Venafro is a presenter on social media marketing to various associations in the building materials industry. He has appeared on industry-related interviews, and has worked in vendor marketing in the millwork department for all 300-plus Menards retail stores. He led a Lean Six Sigma project at PepsiCo, implementing the Marketplace Value Program to accounts in the Erie, Penn., area, eventually ranking his PepsiCo location in fourth place nationwide in 2015.
Venafro serves on the board of directors of the Arizona Hearth, Patio and Barbecue Association, as secretary of Sweep Away Cancer and is founder of the Arizona Chimney Sweep Guild. He has served as director of marketing for National Chimney and Natural Light Energy Systems.
His diverse expertise includes advertising, point-of-purchase design, planograms, packaging artwork, email marketing, product management, brand management, social media management, website development, copywriting, logistics, supply-chain management, Lean Six Sigma doctrine, safety consulting, career counseling and coaching.
“I am now a father who focuses on my family, business and my church,” Venafro said. “I believe the key to my success is due to having the determination and ability to stay motivated each day to serve my industry. I strive to provide constant communication to my customers so they feel like family when they buy our products. I settle for nothing but the best and will work to death to achieve just that.”
